Tough It Up, Kate Hudson

Yes, the cover of this latest W magazine might have been in some frantic discussion of being a copy from a past cover of Harper's Bazaar, but oh well, as long as Kate's working one of my favourite designer's piece, I'm ok with that.

Kate Hudson,
in Gareth Pugh.

TraiT says: Velvet = Horror!!

I'm explicitly open-minded when it comes to the adventurousness of fashion, be it the styling, the matching, the silhouette and (applying for this post) the use of fabrics.

But for some reason, I just can't get pass the fact of myself being so irritated with the velvet trend really. It's uncomfortable, it can get EXTREMELY NASTY when it's in contact with any liquid(of course, worse, SWEAT), and with the same logic as silk, the glossiness can get utterly trashy.
Though it does worked well IN sophisticated shades, shown by Giorgio Armani Fall 08:
But anymore flashy, it's tacky. Excruciatingly.

House of Holland
Yes, they might not look THAT bad. But always remember, it's on the runway. Models just have to wear them for 30 seconds and that's it, they're off. Imagine them on you for 8 hours with sitting folds and creases. Yuck!

Well, again, I might think it's fine months later. Who knows?

Jumbling up

I'm quite into the layerings of the bottom nowadays. Body suit - Louise Goldin
Yellow outerwear - Erdem
Satin trousers - Nina Ricci
Lace-up shoes - House of Holland
Flower purse - Judith Leiber

Yes, the satin can be a little abrupt but seriously, isn't that what fashion is anyway? It's about fun, about mixing different fabrics.

Listen To Her Eyes

How haunting yet breath-taking these editorials are, featuring Alice Burdeu, winner of Australia Next Top model season 3.

Her signature "lazy" eyes, damn damn DAMN DAMN DAMN! She's having a VERY successful post-Top-Model career, which is something to cheer about.

TraiT: Get Me Some Country!

Yes, being August this year means PACKED!
You have the Olympics coming (in 3 days) and our very own National day the day after.
Soon, you'll have the F1 race coming.

I mean, its good to be eventful, but for some reason, I'm telling myself I need some country life. And these shots from Vogue UK September couldn't spell out my thoughts any further.

Besides how effortless Kamilla Filipcikova and Agnete Hegelund worked those tartans from Dolce & Gabbana and Vivienne Westwood, its the atmosphere sentiment emitted from the shots thats makes them so pleasant and tranquil.

Soaking up the sun with Kate and Marc

It's not news that people with have the luxury to experience all four seasons all year would most likely appreciates them. For us Singaporeans, who have to face summer ALL YEAR ROUND, couldn't complain more.

Here, is Kate Moss(my love) and Marc jacobs(who almost everyone's love, excluding me) at the beach.
Yes, and when you have a designer partner, you know that you got your hands on their bags and buttcheeks. Thats Lorenzo Martone, Marc Jacobs's boyfriend.

Dynamic Gloom 3

Oh, just who am I kidding with those layerings and blazer on my previous posts with the DEADLY temperature now, regardless of my love for them. Here, Singapore-weather-friendly yet dynamically gloomy.

Hooded dress with ruffle details - Sonia Rykiel
Pirate boots - Vivienne Westwood
Backpack - Raf SimonsXEastpak

Yes, they are all from SS08.

Dynamic Gloom 2

Lets say despite the gloominess, there's still an important event to attend:
Architectural Blazer - Ana Sekularac
Structural Skirt - Gareth Pugh
Shoes - Giambattista Valli
Bag - Hermes Lydie (vintage)

Person I would love to see in this ensemble : Charlize Theron. She pulls off almost ANYTHING.

Dynamic Gloom

So, it might already be Friday, but that plays no reason that everyone should be cheering. Yes, I'm being bitter.
Let's just say I did not had a good Thursday.

Turtleneck sweater- Marc Jacobs
See-through flare mini skirt - Narciso Rodriguez
Latex pencil skirt with lace details - Andrew Gn
Hat - Philip Treacy
Bag - Anya Hindmarch
Shoes - Christian Dior from Fall Couture 08

*The mini skirt from Narciso Rodriguez will be layered over the Andrew Gn pensil skirt.*

People I'm hoping that will be in this ensemble: None other than Carine Roitfeld, of course.
